Reflection #6

My, where do i start? Field was a great experience i learned so much. I loved it and can't wait to get my own classroom. My favorite part was the art projects that the students worked on. First we had them color a Utah map of lake Bonneville, the mountains, plateaus, and basins. We had them write a key then the next day we had them make a salt dough map. Wow what a great success! They loved it and it was so fun to see how creative each students were. I loved walking around and seeing them put waves in the water (some of the boys put boats) the mountains were different shapes and sizes, some put arches in the plateau area. It was so much fun the whole 3 1/2 weeks i didn't want it to end. When we were discussion our lesson plans with our teacher, she said you may not want to do salt dough cause it is a mess and a nightmare, well when the day came she was amazed at how smooth it went. she said she was sorry for even saying she thought it would be a mess. I feel that we had everything so well prepared that it went smooth. The students made comments on how they loved the salt dough maps. I feel you can integrate art into your lesson plans. Whether it be dance, music, drama or visual arts. It can all be a great experience for teachers and students.

Reflection 5
It was a lot of fun to learn about all the different illustrators, to see the different way they do art. I love to create with colored paper, paint, drawing etc. That has always been my favorite. I enjoy looking at art pictures. I feel that artist can express themselves by the way they paint or create the art. I love how you can use the different elements to create art. The texture, color, form etc. Children could learn so much just from the elements. What you showed in class today i learned a great deal about art.

Reflection #4

Music in the classroom, i think is very important. I know it can help students learn better. I think of young children singing songs and learning the alphabet or sounds. Students can learn quickly and it stays with them longer when they learn concepts to music. I love the thought of using music in my classroom. I know it can affect the atmosphere of the room. I love how you will put on music as we are writing in our journals. It makes such a difference. I know music can do so much for the brain. It fascinates me what it can do for so many emotions. I will use music to teach my students the curriculum as much is able. I know the importance of it.

Reflection #3

When i think of dance, i think you can be free to move as you like let the music take you away. Like that saying says "Dance as if nobody is watching." I love to dance i took dance lessons as a child but now i feel very uncomfortable. I try not to let it bother me but some days it does. I love to watch little children dance they are expressing themselves in so many ways. To me creative dance is something that you can do to feel free and lose yourself in movement. Studio dance is good also but to me it is more dance of what the teacher wants you to learn. When i teach i will use dance as i am teaching them the alphabet or shapes etc. Children will learn more and remember as they incorporate dance and music into their activities. I feel dance and music does so much for the soul.

Reflection #2

I love the thought of using drama in my classroom. I know children can express themselves in many ways when they can act out a story. I loved the idea of using all the different voices. It brings the story to life. I imagine having the children acting out stories with simple costumes. I enjoy drama so i see myself using it a great deal in my classroom. I would love to watch the children respond as we are using drama. I would even dress up myself in a simple way as i would be reading a story and using the different tones of voices, to see the childrens faces, priceless.

Reflection #1

I have learned so much about the arts in Education. I can see that it is so important to integrate the arts in your lesson plans. The children seem to absorb it and do well in school. I just imagined doing arts and crafts with colored paper, glue, etc. or maybe singing a few songs, but i can see there is so much more to this whole Education journey. How exciting to be able to learn how to integrate with drama, dance, music, etc. I have learned that children want to learn with these examples. They love to express themselves through drama, music and dance. They have the energy and their minds are absorbing it all in. Teachers who use this in there classrooms will see a great difference. That is how some children express themselves. You can learn a great deal about your students as you use the different arts through out the year. I'm looking forward to learning more!
